If you wanted to turn the addition into a separate duplex, you could close off that doorway and turn it into a walk-in closet for both sides of the duplex, then make a private entrance for the second unit. It would be located at a 90-degree angle to the main entrance of the south-facing corner of the wraparound porch.

The kitchen forms a central island that the rest of the communal living space is built around. Even though the breakfast nook to the left of the entrance gives plenty of space for a dining table that seats eight, the area between the kitchen's eat-in bar and the window could easily fit another dining table. We used the space for our parrot cages, but the soft, west-facing light is also perfect to set up your artist's easels.
The breakfast nook is bordered on two sides by bench seating that doubles as storage. Accessed by panels that lift up on piano hinges, these spaces are built to store hanging files, but can be used to store anything you want to keep safe but also have readily accessible.
For us, this was a library. It was my office for a while. If you want a music room, this would easily fit a grand piano and a few oboes.

The main floor of the house wraps around the kitchen, and this room is east-facing on the exterior wall opposite the kitchen. Adjacent to the formal dining area, this room looks out over the fenced vegetable and herb garden, and also has a window to the back porch where we grill in the evenings.

The arched window behind the couch faces north and overlooks the screened porch on one side and the labyrinth on the other. To the right of the couch, double doors open to the back porch grill and the vegetable and herb garden just down the stairs.
We don't use the formal dining area as a dining room. But if that's your thing, this place is perfect. These double doors open to the back porch, where there is plenty of room for a table and chairs, so guests can keep the cook company.
The vegetable-and-herb garden is just a few feet away from the porch stairs.

The downstairs primary bedroom has hardwood floors, a large ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet, plus its own entrance and private deck. The adjacent sitting room links this wing of the house to the main house, but the studio / bedroom could easily be made into a separated apartment by adding a front entrance door onto the wraparound porch. The entire suite + sitting room is approximately 1,000 square feet, giving plenty of room to add a full kitchen if desired. The access stairs to the similarly-sized walkout basement give the additional option of making this side of the house into a two-story, multiple bedroom apartment with its own fenced yard.
The studio / downstairs primary suite has its own huge bathroom with a view to the side yard, which could become a separate fenced yard should you decide to turn the suite into a separate apartment.
The downstairs primary bathroom has double sinks, a separate toilet, and plenty of room to add chairs, a dressing table, a freestanding mirror, and more.
Waking up in this bedroom every morning is like waking up in a treehouse, watching the birds and the squirrels who live in the huge oak trees just outside the window.
The upstairs primary bedroom has double sinks, a jetted bathtub, and a large lighted walk-in shower with several settings including a hand-held sprayer and a large rain-shower head. Plenty of room for two people in the shower at one time, but y'all can do what you want.
Soaking in the upstairs primary suite's bathtub is the best way to relax, especially during a full moon. This is the view of a full moon over the rooftop from the bathtub.
This east-facing bedroom still lets you sleep late, even without curtains. The huge oak n the backyard screens the morning sun, so no need for curtains here, either. But a curtain rod is a great place to string twinkle lights. This bedroom has an ensuite bath with a jetted tub.
This bedroom has a built-in desk, built-in shelves, and an ensuite bathroom with a jetted tub. The arched window faces west and looks out onto the front yard. There's also a large unused space over the screened porch that we always thought we'd finish out into a tremendous play area or walk-in closet, but never got around to doing it.
The north/west facing bedroom has a great view of the labyrinth, one of the horse fields, and the woodland /swamp trail beyond.
This upstairs hobby room extends from the west side of the house to the east, and has windows on both ends. Closet/storage space runs along both sides of the room. This large room (Approximately 850 SF) could easily be converted into a separate bedroom with its own ensuite bathroom and private sitting area.
This office space is a breezeway between the main house and the three-story addition that includes the walkout basement and expands upward to the main floor and second story.

This office area plus the upstairs hobby room are directly above the downstairs breezeway and primary bedroom / studio. This space combined with the upstairs hobby room could be converted to an additional primary suite, and it would be easy to add a separate private balcony facing the backyard.
The walkout basement adds 850 SF of space that isn't included in the total footage of the main house, because it isn't served by the three-zoned heat-pump heating and cooling systems.

It does have a window AC / heating unit, along with a high-efficiency wall heater. The two 220V plugs that now bring power to the kilns could be used for a separate laundry room, and the plumbing stubs are already in place to add a full bathroom and kitchen, making this basement into another separate apartment or multi-generational living space.
